Super Bowl Sunday morning was the 7th Annual Run for Refugees. The run benefits IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services).
The morning was cool and foggy but the gym where registration took place quickly filled with runners, friends, families and spectators.
Some had a special runner they were there to watch or encourage. Everyone seemed to be all smiles as they prepared to take off.
All kinds of characters were a part of the race. Some had green hair, some were bees, and even fast food like hamburgers showed up to run. Oh, and there was a bunny too!
The race kicked off as the sponsors addressed the crowd. The runners were ready to go.
They are off! As the crowd took off they were in high spirits. Some, noticing the camera, struck a pose as they passed.
I wasn’t the only photographer on the scene. Here photographer gets photographed as I catch Uma Ramiah with my camera.
The first person to cross the finish line did so at just about 16 minutes
