Trivia – Guess This Corner – Jeffrey Kerekes

Test your New Haven knowledge. Can you guess where these photos were taken?  These were all taken downtown.  I was trying not to make these too hard but some are easier than others.  Have fun.  The answers are below.

1. State Street and Elm Street.  Standing on State Street in front of the WTNH building looking through their entrance way toward Elm Street.  Note Kumo restaurant and The Eli in the background.
2. Orange And Court Streets.  Standing on Court looking at the Federal Social Security office with the NH Green in the far background.
3. Orange and Chapel Streets. This one is harder.  There is a sliver of the building on the left that is very recognizable.  The bus at the bus stop with the small park in the background should also be easy to identify.  The old bank building on the immediate right of the image is hard to identify without the stone in the image.
4. Center Street at Church.  This is a straight forward image of a largely unremarkable section of a small intersection which I thought might make it challenging.
5. George and Church. This intersection would be very recognizable if I included more information in the frame. The building on the left in the far background should help. The color of the brick wall behind the trees is also a giveaway.
6. Temple and George. The architecture on the parking garage and the pedestrian sky bridge should be enough information on this as should the signage on the wall for any drivers familiar with driving this way.
7. Temple and Crown.  This is shooting from Kelly’s through their outdoor seating area.  Note Wine Thief and Barcelona in the background as well as the 900 Chapel in the far background.
8. Corner of High and Crown.  This distinctive parking garage with the tall residential building in the background should be enough. I think this might be a challenge for some.
9. Chapel and High.  The perspective might through people off, but this should be easy to identify.  I tried to frame the image to eliminate the sides which would make it even easier to identify.
10. Wall Street at High. I thought this might be harder. I tried to obscure the Beinecke Rare Book Library in the background but show it enough to make it clear where this was located.. The “1930” engraving is on the entrance to the Yale Law School.
