I recently did a fun shoot at River Street with Brian Samuel Robinson of the Tet Offensive, a local rock/string quartet band he composes for and sings with. He chose lyrics from his song library for each of the photos, some also with audio/ video links. Check them out.
“I got no money.
I’ve
got no money;
I can’t
go out to the bar.
I’ve
got some poems
With
innuendo,
But
that ain’t getting me far,
And now
I’m in a mood.”
— Twenty-Two Seventy-Seven
“All regrets turn black and blue.
All my
debts are long, long overdue.
I took
the time I had, and not the time it took;
Had a
little hiccup
But I’m
not off the hook.”
—
Hiccups
“You can see me coming, but you don’t know where I am.
You can
feel me running, but you don’t know where I stand.
And you
keep on watching, and I can’t stop.”
—
Uncertain
“You can get mad whenever you want —
Whenever
you want; I really don’t care.
It’s
kind of creepy when you’re mad.”
—
Time Out
“One more stupid joke and I’m gone.
I’m
sick of your dumb puns and Broadway songs.
One day it’s gonna come;
A big,
unnatural flood
To
drown away the people who stayed.”
—
The Flood
“You tell me that you get a little nervous
Things
aren’t gonna be the same again.
I don’t
give a damn if things get different.
Grow
horns and claws, just hold my hand
And let
me in.”

“I had it but I couldn’t hold on to it
Because
I’m intangible —
A
serrated ghost of my history.”

Fantasies
“I read your mind, but I forgot what you just said
These secret powers are so useless
It’s superhuman just to get out of
the bed
and face the spectre of our muses.”
—
Black Tiger
“You got excited,
And you
waved your hands,
And you
knocked down all the pictures and they shattered.
And I
got mad
As I
was sweeping.
I
filled the dustpan, and cursed your name.”

“He tells
me to do things that don’t make sense.
I do
them anyway, because I don’t have any money.”

Stalin Says “Drink Coke!”
“They’re gonna pass you on the highway,
And
meet you at the diner.
Home,
home.
They’re
gonna wave to you at the grocery store,
And
‘friend’ you on facebook.
Home,
home.

“All I wanted was some immortality.
I’m not
thinking of others.
I’m
preoccupied by my fantasies.”
