New Haven High School Students and their Surprising Facts – Chris Randall

December 13, 2015 by Chris Randall

I photographed The Future Project‘s Dream Con this weekend at Gateway. It was a great time! You can check out those photos in our Facebook Album. I also took these portraits and asked for a fact about themselves which others would be surprised by.

Tyquanna, 17, Wilbur Cross; surprising fact: She loves the arts and dance.
Marquest, 18, New Haven Academy c/o 2016; surprising fact: Loves to sing and dance and recognizes that every single person has a talent in them.
Angelica, 17, Riverside Academy c/o 2016; surprising fact: She loves to work on cars and recently changed her own radiator.
Ben, 18, High School in the Community  c/o 2015; surprising fact: Has held a 12.9  reading level (the highest level the test registers) since before freshman year and loves to read. He couldn’t tell me his favorite book, but happily told me that his favorite book series is The Chronicles of  Vladimir Tod.
Taylor, 17. Wilbur Cross H.S., c/o 2016; surprising fact: She loves to help people. Last summer she worked at a camp called PNMC which helps build younger girls’ self confidence.
Dayqwan, Riverside Academy c/o 2016; surprising fact: He strives for success and nothing but. He wants to become a nurse.
Kenyan, 16; surprising fact: He loves working at BJ’s as a cashier and is a VERY hard worker.
Maya, 16 c/o 2017; surprising fact: she is a great singer. Her favorite song to sing lately has been I Gotta Find a Piece of Mind  by Lauryn Hill.
Juan, 17,  New Horizons c/o 2017; surprising fact: He is an awesome cook. I asked him his specialty and he told me that chicken wings are his favorite and his specialty is making dreams come true!
Chris, 18, Career H.S. c/o 2016; surprising fact: He is a sneaker enthusiast. The #1 pair on his wish list are the Michael Jordan Chicago I (the originals which came out in  1985). He knows they are going to be expensive and maybe even impossible to find a pair that fit. Chris wears a size 14.
Destiny, 16, High School in the Community c/o 2017; surprising fact: she loves debate, volleyball,  and camping. Her favorite place to camp is the White Mountain National Forest.
Ray, 20, currently a student at SCSU and a graduate of Career H.S.; surprising fact: he has over 10,000 photos on Facebook.
Samantha, Wilbur Cross; surprising fact: “There isn’t a surprise, it’s obvious…..I”m unique”
Shamya, 15, Wilbur Cross; surprising fact: She designs and makes her own clothes. The next photo has a close up of her shirt which she customized with paint.

Taylor, 20, SCSU; surprising fact: she loves documentaries and watches them often,  She most recently watched a documentary on homelessness.
