On Friday, February 16, Jason Watts of the Urban Professional Network held
a private screening of Black Panther and then an after party at Brother Jimmy’s
in New Haven.
Black Panther, the first Marvel superhero movie with a
primarily black cast, has evoked a massive cultural movement across the world.
This movement was apparent in New Haven as hundreds of people came to this
private screening and after party. So many came dressed in traditional African
wear with pride emitting from their eyes. There was a true sense of community.
And to witness that connection and sense of empowerment
between everyone, was nothing short of beautiful.
