Hi there, New Haveners. In the face of an emotionally exhausting two weeks (or two years, for that matter), this city is mounting some pretty amazing art that doubles as an act of resistance. At Kehler Liddell Gallery on Whalley Avenue, there is a new exhibition called The Rise and Fail of the N-Word, featuring the work of artist Rhinold Ponder.
On Grand Avenue, there’s La fotografía de MULA, an exhibition of seven Latina photographers tucked away behind an insurance company. And at Collective Consciousness Theatre in Erector Square, Associate Director Jenny Nelson has mounted Dominique Morisseau’s sublime, hard-hitting and deeply genuine Sunset Baby, running this Thursday, Friday and Sunday, March 1-3 and 8-11.
