New Haven and Yale Snow From Above

January 20, 2025 by Chris Randall Leave a Comment

New Haven sure did look pretty covered in snow!

I’ve been lining these shots up in my head ever since I got my remote pilots license for my drone. It finally snowed a decent amount!

These photos were all taken between 1:00am and 5:00am this morning. Snow is so uncommon here now, I had to get it all out of my system. Check out these aerial snow photos of New Haven and Yale.

Looking up Grove Street on the right and Wall Street on the left. You can see A LOT in this photo. Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall (SSS) is all the way on the right. You can see the Schwarzman Center/ Woolsey Hall and the
Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.

Fair Haven Heights. The iconic Pilgrim Congregational Church is in the foreground on East Grand Ave. You can also see the Grand Avenue Bridge and the Quinnipiac River.

Taken above Wooster Square Park, you’re looking up Court Street into Downtown.

Overlooking Cross Campus at Yale. Sterling Memorial Library is at the top of the photo. Bottom left corner is section of Hopper College and above that is Berkley College. In the tight corner you have Harkness Hall and Lampson Hall. Theres also a Yale PD vehicle parked in front of Sterling.

New Haven Green. In the bottom left corner is United Church on the Green and in the bottom right corner is Center Church on the Green.

Overlooking Old Campus at Yale. You can see Harkness Tower in the background. One the right hand side of the bottom is the top of Phelps Gate. In the bottom left corer is Connecticut Hall, the oldest building at Yale, built between 1750 and 1752.

Overlooking the courtyard of Silliman College at Yale. Timothy Dwight College is in back. Photo taken at the corer of College Street and Grove. College Street is visible on the bottom left.

Center Church on the Green.

The interior side of Hopper College is on the bottom middle of the photo. The photo faces Elm Street. You can see part of Battell Chapel, which is on the corner of Elm Street and College Street. From there if you move your eyes to the right up Elm Street, you’ll see Durfee Hall then Lanman Wright Hall.

Overlooking Old Campus. The top of Phelps Gate is on the bottom right. In the middle you can see Connecticut Hall, then McCellan Hall. To the left of those buildings is Vanderbilt Hall which runs along Chapel Street. You can also see the Yale Center for British Art and parts of the Yale University Art Gallery.

Looking at Chapel Street and College Street. The Taft Building is in the middle. You can also see Sneaker Junkies, Ordinary, The Shake Shack, and Claire’s Corner Copia. Bingham Hall is the Yale building at the bottom right.

Overlooking the courtyard of Silliman College. The first thing you might notice is the snow art, which I didn’t even see until I got home and put the images on a big screen. Perfect timing, perfect placement I guess. I hope that the artist gets to see this photo of their work!

Grove street is running up through the right of this photo. Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall (SSS) is at the far right side.

Fair Haven Heights looking up Lenox Street. East Grand Avenue crosses perpendicularly. You can see the Pilgrim Congregational Church on the left and New Haven Fire Department’s Engine 17 on the right.

You’re looking at the corner of Whalley Avenue and Blake Street in Westville. Parts of West Rock are at the top of the photo.
