Last weekend A Broken Umbrella Theater Company (ABUT) performed Made of New Haven, a new play made up from scenes of their ten prior plays. It was a special one-day, two show performance in ABUT’s Erector Square studio/theater and also a grassroots gala-fundraiser. ABUT is raising money for their next play slated for the summer of 2017.
A Broken Umbrella Theater Company does amazing work and ALL of their plays are rooted in New Haven history! That is so cool!
I’ll let them explain it better: ” ABUT is committed to enhancing the vitality of our community, supporting the creative growth of our ensemble and presenting compelling theatrical events that are inspired by the unique history of New Haven, Connecticut – all with a commitment to aesthetic rigor. Each year, 30 or more Connecticut arts professionals affiliated with our ensemble volunteer to research, write, design, act, and produce original theater inspired by New Haven’s history and lore.” – A Broken Umbrella Theater Company (from inside the program)
