Hey there Elm Citizens! Just a quick post this week on New Haven’s wonderful Chamber Orchestra (NHCO), to celebrate some big news for them: they just scored a big arts grant from the Mayor, and are using it for some very cool stuff at their concerts.
Like free books for kids and family friendly programming. Last weekend, they presented the nineteenth-century opera The Elixir of Love with a narrative, to tone down all of the overwhelming, trilling Italian vocals.
Or a growing number of young members, like Noel Mitchell and Isabel Melchinger, who also play with the organization Music Haven.
Or new music that’s not in the public domain, meaning that the ensemble will need to pay for its usage.
Basically, all good things. Check em out sometime.
