Hello Elm Citizens! Lucy here, back for a little slice of summer — or something like that — as the temperatures drop into the 30s and our super mild winter becomes just incrementally less mild. Earlier this week, on a gloomy afternoon, I dipped into the Edgerton Park Conservancy, tucked away near the Cliff Street entrance of the park. I hadn’t been since the Elm City Folk Fest in summer 2015, and I felt way overdue for a visit.
It’s always well worth the trip. Inside, the only sounds were a trickle of water on the roof, byproduct of an earlier rain, and the crunch of gravel beneath my boots. It’s definitely one of those local New Haven treasures, from the little stuffed animals hung over the plants to the variety of water-dotted, potted treasures that line the aisles, each with their own origin story.
Sometimes you even find other New Haveners there!
