Katro Storm is a very talented local painter. He was born and raised in New Haven, went to ECA, and then received a full art scholarship to the Art Institute of Boston where he studied for two and a half years. Then he went on to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I recently took these photographs of a few of his paintings at his East Rock studio. He’s a really cool guy. Find out more about Katro’s work on his Katro Storm Art Facebook Page.

This is my good friend Vin. He graduated from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He’s currently living in New Haven and does really cool things like live with Australian Aborigines for two years, kite boarding, paragliding, and living in Maui. I took these photos of Vin kite boarding at Lighthouse Point Park on Tuesday morning. It was extremely gusty. The photos at the bottom of this post were taken earlier this year in February as Vin was paragliding from the top of East Rock into Rice Field. (do not attempt to do this at home, OR on the top of East Rock)

Wow both these guys are amazing! Katro for his incredible art where he captures the essence of his subjects in beautiful portraits – they eyes are really expressive, and Vin in his daring moves. What is that device called? It looks like a parachute of some sort. Both inspire!!
Thanks Margaret, and I agree. I will check with Vin about the technical name, but I know that it's called paragliding, so it might be a para sail.
