In observance of World Diabetes Day, the Soldier and Sailor Monument was lit up with blue lights. The Juvinile Diabetes Research Foundation partnered with the City of New Haven to promote diabetes awareness. Hundreds of monuments were similarly lit throughout the world for the same purpose.
