Sometimes it is the simple things which have the most impact. Raymond Wallace is concerned about New Haven’s children and while he has ideas about what can be done through programs he isn’t waiting for large scale funding to do his work. The front man for Guns Down Books Up, Wallace does big things like the summer basketball event some know him and the organization for but he also does small things with much impact.
Simple things like some paint, beads, and adult attention make for a great time for the young people at Courtland Wilson Library on a snowy Saturday afternoon. Wallace seems particularly happy that some men, despite the conventional wisdom, show up to help.
The result of Guns Down Books Up and the effort they make is smiles on the faces of children and adults alike.
