The Freddy Fixer Parade holds a profound significance within the Dixwell, Newhallville community, and New Haven as a whole. The parade has become a signature New Haven event, serving as a vibrant celebration of unity, culture, and history. The Freddy Fixer Parade is the oldest Black American parade in New England and is something we all should be proud of.
The 2024 Freddy Fixer Parade was the biggest parade in 20 years! There were seventy-nine marching units. It takes A LOT of work, coordination, and people to make it happen. The Freddy Fixer Parade Board and Parade Committee did an excellent job!
For more information or to get involved, check out the parade’s website: elmcityfreddyfixerparade.com
Here are some of the highlights of today’s parade. I put a link to an expanded album with all of the photos (4o5 of them!) that I took today at the bottom of this post. You’ll be able to download and use photos from that gallery for personal use. If you’re interested in using photos commercial purposes please contact me at chris@ilovenewhaven.org
