On Tuesday, the day after Christmas, many members of the New Haven community gathered at city hall on a cold winter evening to celebrate culture, community and Kwanzaa. Below are some of the images from that celebration. More images in the Facebook Gallery

Yearly I try to make it to the various Kwanzaa events held around town and having camera in tow I take pictures. This year I missed some events because I was not in town at the time. I did catch the one at Lyric Hall.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of both ancient and living African culture. In celebrations there is heavy focus on ancestors and the 7 principles of Kwanzaa. Several public celebratory events took place across New Haven.
